Mission

Executes Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) responsibilities concerning Marine Corps estimative intelligence support to assist the Commandant as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and as a Service Chief.

Function

• Conducts liaison with the JCS, Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, Department of State and other national and departmental intelligence services and organizations in matters pertaining to estimative intelligence.

• Participates in the formulation of JCS papers concerning both current and estimative intelligence matters.

• Compiles and disseminates finished intelligence to the Commandant, principal staff officers, and other designated staff officers.

• Under the cognizance of the Director of Intelligence, serves as the direct-support intelligence staff for Deputy Chief of Staff/Plans, Policies & Operations to assist in the daily operation of the Marine Corps, as well as Plans, Policies & Operations joint responsibilities.
